We receive our guest all year long. However if you're coming to Aix for it's famous Music and Opera festival, you're likely to be interested in Arts and might be interested to visit my pottery studio.

Pottery studio

My pottery studio is open to all those who are interested in getting creative. I have been working with clay for many years and enjoy sharing my passion with others. I have always loved being in touch with nature and working with clay gives me the impression to return to the source. My first contact with pottery was in my tender childhood years, while making mud pies with my sister in our back yard. In the 70’s I was fortunate enough to attend a California High School with a very healthy Fine Arts department where I spent hours exploring different art expressions. The passion for working with clay followed me throughout the years and has been an activity I enjoy perfecting.

Arts in provence

In Provence pottery is a big part of the local tradition. So when I arrived here 11 years ago I fit right in. One of the traditions in Provence is the fabrication of Santons; these objects are made out of clay and are cooked in kilns similar to pottery and then painted and sometimes dressed. Santons usually represent ancient tradesmen and women. They are collected by the locals and used for the Christmas nativity scene or just as decoration. For an introduction to wheel turning or just a hands-on experience of the medium, I am at your disposition. If you have never tried working with Clay this is your chance! In the summer months, we can work outdoor under the trees to sound of the cigales. In the cooler months, we work inside near a wood burning stove. The pottery studio at the Mimosas is very rustic and functional, it is a workshop, not a boutique. Please feel free to contact me if you would like further information, I would love to hear from you
