Aix en Provence is a town where one can wander along the footsteps of Cezanne, following the gold seals on the pavement. One will not miss in 2011 the multiple City activities of Aix en Provence. Several local well know Artist painters have made Aix en Provence and its surroundings the subject of many of their oil paintings and watercolors. Their paintings truly capture the beauty of Provence. Walking tours are available at the local tourist office and are strongly recommended.

Provencal way of life

Aix en Provence is a Thallasotherapy center and also known for its fountains which were at one time the only source of water for the habitants of the town. Each fountain has a unique story behind it. Aix is also known for its outside Market place, one of the most beautiful in Provence. On Market days there is always a special atmosphere. Local musicians animate street corners. Craft vendors set up stands selling colorful table linens and other local specialties.
